A GREAT Paxton man endangered the lives of countless numbers of people by hurling a shopping trolley onto the railway line at Huntingdon train station.

Police arrested Kristian Harley, 20, of Izzard Rise on August 1 after a trolley was thrown from the station road bridge onto the train line below. It narrowly missed power cables.

Appearing at Huntingdon Magistrates Court on Wednesday (August 12), Harley who is of previous good character, admitted causing a nuisance by throwing the trolley onto the track.

The offence was described as very serious and magistrates said a prison sentence could not be ruled out.

A more serious charge of maliciously obstructing the railway line was not proceeded with as the trolley had missed the track itself.

Sentencing was adjourned for three weeks.
