Scrambling around the grass in search of that elusive peg, while struggling with damp washing, should be a thing of the past thanks to a Papworth man who has designed the world's first bagless clothes peg holder. The UK Patent Office has granted John Dove's "Easypegger" invention a registered design certificate which protects the appearance of the product for 25 years.Dreamed up at the 42-year-old father-of three's kitchen table, the Easypegger is a simple idea: a 240cm length of stainless steel wire, coiled into a spiral with a clip at the top to attach it to the washing line. Holding 90 clothes pegs securely, the Easypegger can be stored standing upright and even be put in the dishwasher."To be honest, the whole thing came about as I was fed up with pegs falling out the bag all the time," said Mr Dove, pictured above."I spend a lot of time working at home, so I often get the washing in, and I just thought everyone else must have the same silly little problems."The design took almost a year to perfect, with the biggest problem encountered trying to fit enough pegs on to the contraption."That was the hardest bit really - the idea of the spring just came to me one day after I started off with a different kind of peg bag which didn't improve the situation," said Mr Dove. "The simplest way to bend the wire to shape was around a traffic cone, and from there I just tweaked the design."After doing his research and discovering there was nothing similar on the market, Mr Dove applied for the all-important registered design certificate and is now looking for investment.INFORMATION: For more details or to purchase an Easypegger for £4.99, visit www.easypegger.co.uk.
