I WOULD like to say a big thank you to the kind people who helped me when I dislocated my knee outside Sainsbury's on Saturday August 9.

I slipped down as I was returning my trolley and dislocated my left knee. I was in an immense mount of pain and began to scream my head off. Luckily for me, there was a passing off-duty paramedic who also just happened to have equipment on him and was able to stabilise my condition while we waited for the ambulance to arrive.

All the passers-by who stopped to help me were amazing people, and I owe special thanks to the man who called the ambulance and also the man was stayed with me while we waited for the ambulance and who talked me through the gas and air.

He did an amazing job at keeping me calm and talking through what happened. He was a brilliant, Good Samaritan, and I only wish I had his name so I could thank him properly.

That man did not have to stop and help me, he did not have to get involved at all, but out of the kindness of his heart he did. Same to the off duty paramedic. That also shows such commitment to the job. It is quite unbelievable. I think I was a very lucky girl.

It also just goes to show how good the NHS actually is. A lot of people moan about the poor service of the NHS but the treatment I got was outstanding. Without the NHS, the accident would have cost me hundreds of pounds in hospital fees. The ambulance was with me in less than 10 minutes and I was discharged from hospital at around 6.45pm. I received completely amazing service from all the staff at Hinchingbrooke Hospital who dealt with me.
