STAFF act as excellent role models and children's behaviour is exemplary throughout sessions at Hail Weston Pre-school, according to Ofsted inspectors.

The provision for helping children to make a positive contribution at the pre-school is outstanding, they added.

The report said: "All children are welcomed and offered a wealth of play and learning opportunities. Their positive daily experience of the pre-school is underpinned by the highly appropriate support they receive from staff, which ensures all children are able to participate in all aspects of the setting."

Inspectors found that the pre-school offered an outstanding partnership with parents and carers and that the "staff were committed to involving parents fully in all aspects of the setting and in their children's learning".

The pre-school's provision for helping children to be healthy was found to be outstanding because of highly effective procedures and practices.

The provision for helping children to achieve is said to be good with clear planning ensuring that children have good opportunities to develop the attitudes and abilities that help them to achieve in their learning.

The report stated: "Their motivation to learn is promoted through exciting and interesting activities and they are confident to try new experiences. Children are confident enough to initiate conversations and understand the importance of listening to others."

The provision for protecting children from harm or neglect and helping them stay safe is said to be good. The report said: "Children are cared for in a welcoming environment where their work is displayed and they are able to access the resources provided. Their ongoing safety is given a high priority and staff carry out comprehensive daily safety checks."

However, the report said the child protection policy undertaken by the staff did not contain current information, which could lead to a delay in taking appropriate action.
