A £50,000 scheme to improve safety on a road in Ramsey has been approved.

There have been eight accidents in three years in Bury Road, and the work was approved by the Huntingdonshire Traffic Management Area Joint Committee.

Ramsey county councillor Susan Normington said: "This stretch of road has been the scene of a number of accidents and injuries, and I am delighted that this scheme, which should help cut the number of crashes and casualties, has been approved."

Improved visibility from the side of Biggin Lane, a reduction in the speed of through traffic, improved facilities for pedestrians crossing the road, and a mini-roundabout at the junction with Fairfield Drive are among the proposals.

INFORMATION: On average, Bury Road is used by more than 7,500 vehicles, 800 pedestrians and 60 cyclists every day.
