A 12-YEAR-OLD girl was assaulted as she travelled to school in St Neots.

The assault took place between 7.45am and 8.30am in Church Street on Thursday, September 24. The girl was cycling and asked a man who was blocking her path to move. He swung his rucksack, hitting her in the head and then shouted abuse at her.

PC Colin Norden, who is investigating, said: "The girl wasn't injured but she was hurt and left shocked. I would like to speak to anyone who saw this happen."
