NINE people escaped uninjured after a huge fire broke out in a workshop on Wednesday afternoon (February 27). Firefighters from St Neots, Huntingdon, Sawtry, Kimbolton and Gamlingay were sent to Little End Road Industrial Estate in Eaton Socon at 4.42pm after reports of huge plumes of smoke above St Neots. When crews arrived at Foundry Way they found a fire in a workshop measuring 20 metres by 30 metres and owned by Tackwood Services. Police cordoned off sections of Eaton Socon and the nearby B&Q store was evacuated. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service told The Hunts Post the building was well alight and firefighters had to tackle the fire from the outside due to the intensity of the blaze. She added that the blaze was undercontrol by 8.23pm and the workshop had been totally destroyed. A fire investigation has been launched to find out the cause of the blaze. Tackwood services are a family run transport business that has been operating in St Neots since 1971.
