CUBS, scouts and beavers from the 1st Hartford Scouts celebrated the scouting movement's centenary year in the blazing sunshine on Saturday with a jamboree in Hinchingbrooke Country Park in Huntingdon.
During the day-long session, girls and boys tried traditional scouting activities such as using compasses, tying knots, building bridges, and other constructions and operating a catapult. There was also a set of stocks in which the youngsters could place their leaders and throw wet sponges at them for 20p a throw to contribute to the cost of the day.
An exhibition looking over 100 years of scouting was mounted in the visitor's centre at the park.
