THE future of monthly car boot sales in St Neots has been secured thanks to town councillors who agreed to pull on their rubber gloves to clean up any litter.
Fears had been raised that the monthly boot fair at Riverside Car Park on a Sunday would be scrapped after Huntingdonshire District Council said it wanted to start charging organisers St Neots Town Council a fee for cleaning up any mess left after the event.
However, after talks between mayor Councillor Gordon Thorpe and town clerk, Helen King, a compromise was reached.
Cllr Thorpe said he and three other town councillors volunteered to clean up after the car boot fair.
