CHILDREN at Houghton Primary School impressed audiences last week with their performance of the cult gangster movie Bugsy Malone.

A total of 98 children between the ages of seven and 11 took part in the musical play based on the 1976 film in which all the gangsters are children.

As well as impressive dance routines there were also solo performances from Bugsy, played by 10- year-old Joe and Tullulah, played by Olivia, also 10.

Georgina Young, assistant headteacher, said: "It was fantastic. We had a full house every night and have received great reviews. In one of the scenes there was a dance routine that included over 30 children, which was really impressive. It was our most ambitious play and our most successful.
