A WORLD record attempt in Huntingdon ended in disappointment at the weekend when the challenge had to be abandoned.

Thirty-six footballers were hoping to play the longest-ever match - 44 hours - but the game was called off after more than 23-hours of continuous play, 13 hours short of the current record.

The Target40 challenge had been organised by Huntingdon teenager Zac Cornish, who was hoping to raise £20,000 for charity as well as beating the Guinness World Record.
