MOTORISTS were being urged on Monday (November 10) not to attempt to drive through flooded roads following heavy rain.

The warning came after the Environment Agency issued a flood warning in the Huntingdonshire area on the River Kym.

A number of roads were closed on Monday as a result of flooding including London Road between Stonely and Kimbolton and the road between Hamerton village and Alconbury.

A police spokesperson said: "There has been heavy rain overnight although we believe the worst in now over.

"River levels in some areas are high and there is water on some roads and I would urge motorists not to attempt to use these roads.

"We would urge residents in affected areas to be vigilant and take any necessary precautions they can against flooding.
