FIVE people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being pulled from a burning car following a police chase in Cambridgeshire.
The Volkswagon Golf caught on fire after it crashed into a ditch at about 3am on Wednesday (May 27) near Needingworth. All five occupants of the vehicle are now in hospital after being rescued by police.
Officers tried to stop the red car in Cambridge at about 2.30am but it failed to stop and a pursuit began. The vehicle pulled away from police and was relocated in the Huntingdon area at about 3am where another pursuit began.
The vehicle then left the A1123 close to the junction with Bluntisham Road, crashed into a ditch and burst into flames.

The occupants, a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old woman, both from Bury St Edmunds suffered serious but not life threatening injuries and are at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. The other three occupants a 23-year-old woman, a 16-year-old man and 19-year-old man, all from Cambridge, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries and are at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.
