A BUMPER sale to launch the Christmas trade at Just Sharing, the not-for-profit Fairtrade gift shop at the Free Church, St Ives, raised nearly £2,400 in just one weekend.
The shop, which now has its Christmas range, sells food including Christmas cakes and chocolate, charity Christmas cards and crafts.
The shop is a not-for-profit organisation. Members of the shop staff are volunteers. However, there are professional, part-time managers. There is very little mark-up on the products but any profits go back to pay the rent and overheads of the business. Any surplus is given to charities supporting projects in developing countries which tie in with the principles of fair trade.
