Susie is just 14 years old when she is brutally killed on December 6, 1973 near her home in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
Finding she is stuck between the world of the living and the dead she is able to watch over her killer and the loved ones she left behind.

As Susie's parents, friends and the police try to solve the horrific crime it is only the killer's capture that can bring her peace.
Saorise Ronan takes on the lead role of Susie with her parents Jack and Abigail, played by Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz.

The film is directed by Peter Jackson and based on Alice Sebold's 2002 novel of the same name.
