At a recent meeting of the Huntingdonshire Philatelic Society, two members gave displays.
Bernard Lemmon illustrated the farming year, from the heavy horses ploughing in winter through to harvesting.
With postcards, photographs, covers and anecdotes to go with them, coupled with an obvious keen interest in the subject, this made for a very interesting display.
Dave Skinner's display was about road safety from the early days of transport through to the present day. It was not until the 1930s that any stamps were issued with a road safety theme.
Along with a photograph of the first woman to be killed by a car, there were also press cuttings, postcards, slogan postmarks and labels.
New members welcome. Meetings are normally held at Huntingdonshire Regional College, California Road, Huntingdon. Sales and chat from 7pm and the meetings start at 7.30pm.
