A LANE of the A14 heading into Cambridge will be closed today (Tuesday) as workman try to fix a burst water main.
Cambridge Water, which is carrying out the repairs, said the eastbound lane closure was on the A14/Huntingdon Road in the Girton area.
Its inspectors were notified of the burst water main at 7am on Monday morning. A number of properties in the Girton area were without water until 10.30am when the burst was located under a brick built culvert which runs by the A14 at Washpit Brook.
A spokesman for Cambridge Water said: “The emergency repairs on the burst water main are likely to be on-going throughout the day.
“If everything remains on schedule we hope to complete the work this evening and resurface the road overnight. Work is on-going to minimise potential disruption to rush hour traffic tomorrow morning.”
