WELL done to Andrew Bowers, of Huntingdon (Letters, May 30). He called himself and the rest of us "English".

Most official forms that we have to fill in have us down as British. The Government and most of the media call us British. Yes, we are British. We are also Europeans but, when it comes to nationality, we are English. Let us be proud to be called English.

There are people in this country who qualify to be called British, but all my family and Andrew Bowers and his family are English.

As for St George, in my opinion the three lions on the footballers' and cricketers' shirts and caps should be replaced with a St George emblem. St George is our patron saint, so he should be represented on all our sportsmen and women's uniforms.
