THE managing director of Rustler Produce in Chatteris, where the three Portuguese workers were employed, Jason Burgess, said: "We welcome this initiative. We like to think it will prevent further accidents. We have worked with the council on road safety, giving out road safety leaflets and helping to get them translated into other languages."
Mr Burgess, who said he drove along the Forty Foot road to get to work, said he would also like to see barriers there.
"If it were part of our site, we would do a risk assessment and we would have barriers there."
He added that it could be useful to have an overtaking ban near the junctions.
"That's where the near misses are. People start to overtake and then someone drives out of a junction. I have seen a lot of near misses happen like that.
