VOTERS have been out today (Thursday, May 1) to elect 18 councillors to Huntingdonshire District Council. Whatever the outcome of the polls, there is no statistical chance of the Conservatives losing control of the authority, which they have run since it came into existence in 1974. There are also elections in many wards in South Cambridgeshire - though not in Papworth, where Conservative Councillor Mark Howells is returned unopposed. There are also elections to St Ives Town Council and to Little Paxton and Warboys Parish Councils. Nearly 60 polling stations in Huntingdonshire in use today will close at 10pm. The votes for all elections will be counted on Friday and the results will be posted on this website immediately after they are declared.
