COUNCILLOR Mac McGuire has been re-elected as chairman of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fire Authority for the eighth consecutive term.

Councillor Graham Murphy from Peterborough City Council has been elected as vice-chairman.

At its annual meeting in April, Cllr McGuire was also re-elected as chairman of the regional management board, which comprises representatives from the six fire authorities in the Eastern region that run each of the six fire and rescue services.

Cllr McGuire said: "I am delighted to have been re-elected again as chairman of the fire authority and of the regional management board.

"The fire service nationally is undergoing a period of significant change and I am pleased to be able to help drive through these changes at both a regional and local level."

The fire authority is the governing body of Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and meets at service headquarters in Huntingdon.
