LETTERS have been sent to schools in Cambridgeshire in a bid to help find a 2ft tall Mackinder Eagle owl who has been missing for more than a week.

Seven-year-old Whiz disappeared from Hamerton Zoo near Sawtry at noon on Monday, July 10.

Pc Phil Nicholls, who is investigating, said: "We have sent out letters to more than 75 children who visited the school on the day Whiz went missing as they may have information relating to his whereabouts.

"Whiz is unable to fly as his wings are clipped and keepers feel it is unlikely he would have wandered off as he is allowed to roam around the zoo regularly, so it is likely he has been stolen."

INFORMATION: Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Whiz should contact Pc Nicholls on 0845 4564564 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
