A WOMAN driver stopped by police in Sapley Road, Huntingdon, after a tip-off was nearly double the drink-drive limit, magistrates heard. Gayle Jane Waller, formerly of Huntingdon and now living at Heacham, Norfolk, admitted driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £50 by Huntingdonshire magistrates, banned from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay £60 prosecution costs. Tracey Bellingham, prosecuting, said Waller had been found to have 68 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35. Magistrates said the fine would have been higher had she not spent nearly 24 hours in custody before the hearing, after being arrested when she failed to appear at an earlier hearing. Waller said she had got the summons only an hour before an officer arrived to arrest her. The document had been re-directed and she had been away from her new home. Police had been willing to release her but had re-arrested her after she went home and had a massive row with her mother, she told the bench.
