AFTER drinking all day, an Eaton Socon man lay under a police van to stop it driving away, a court heard.

Gordon Elliott, 20, of Begwary Close, had also been involved in a fight in Browns Square, St Neots, on April 7, magistrates at Huntingdon heard. He admitted obstructing police.

The court heard how police officers had been called to an incident of public disorder in Browns Square. On arrival, four men - friends of Elliott - were arrested.

At this point, Elliott became abusive to the police and lay down in front of the police van to prevent it taking his friends away.

Magistrates gave Elliott a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £60 prosecution costs.
