I THINK the recent letters regarding football noise miss the point slightly. The fact is that young boys today, with the help of a doting mother, don't give a hoot about anyone but themselves.
The constant banging of a football causes distress to the elderly and others who just want some peace and quiet.
A lot of mothers have the attitude that, if you don't like the noise, it's your problem, not theirs.
One lad once said to me: "My mum says I can do what I like." Where is dad in all this? Lives are stressful enough but, if you are quite happy with a lot of noise within your household, fair enough. But there is no reason why the rest of us should suffer.
If mothers brought their sons up with respect for others, a lot of the problems in the country might be averted.
