RECENTLY, Huntingdonshire District Council held a meeting with parish councils to seek their support in planning operations in the event of an emergency. A report of this meeting was discussed at the St Ives Town Council planning committee.
At first, the leading Tory members were very firmly opposed to taking part as it was a district function. However, under pressure from the two Liberal Democrat councillors present, they reluctantly agreed to hear a speaker from the district to explain the proposal further.
Would you believe that a parish council could not want to take part in helping its residents in the event of an emergency? Well, that council is Tory St Ives Town Council. The townspeople should remember this.
