MAY I take the opportunity through your paper to thank the 2,075 people who cast their vote for me at last week's district council election.
It was quite a battle for me, as I only agreed to stand in late February, and then found out I would be up against the popular Huntingdon Mayor.
Sid Akthar was a fine adversary in the campaign, but I was delighted that the policies I campaigned on, allied to my drive and enthusiasm, won the day.
This is the first time I have stood for office - it won't be the last. I am really looking forward to getting stuck in, and finding out what truth there is behind the rumoured multi-million pound deficit we face.
