A DISPERSAL order to combat abusive and intimidating behaviour from St Ives youths will come into force in the town on Friday after complaints from residents. The order, which will last for six months and be applied in the Kings Hedges area of the town, was sought by police and Huntingdonshire District Council. It is aimed at stopping youngsters hanging around in groups and acting anti-socially. Pc John Webb said: "I hope that this dispersal order will send out a clear message to those who participate in anti-social acts that we will not tolerate such behaviour. Everyone who lives in and visits the Kings Hedges area has the right to do so without fear of harassment or intimidation." The order means officers can ask anyone who is causing or thought likely to cause intimidation or harassment to leave the area or face arrest. Pc Webb added: "If people ignore the order they will be arrested. We will not stop in our efforts to allow people to enjoy living in St Ives." INFORMATION: To report incidents of anti-social behaviour contact police on 0845 4564564.
