A NEW depot which will help speed up repairs to social housing properties across Huntingdonshire has been opened in Huntingdon.
The facility is a partnership between the Luminus Group, the Huntingdon-based social landlord, and builders merchant Travis Perkins.
Situated off Glebe Road, the depot will stock materials for Luminus tradesmen to use in repairs at the 7,000 homes for which the group is responsible. Luminus Suregas will also use materials from the site in the 22,000 homes the company serves. Jonathan Djanogly, MP for Huntingdon, joined bosses from the two companies to cut the ribbon at the formal opening.
A training room has also been built on the site to provide a space for tradesman's courses, such as those dealing with asbestos awareness, manual handling and customer care.
Bricklaying and carpentry courses will also be available.
Chan Abraham, chief executive of the Luminus Group, said: "We are committed to investing in our communities, and this strategic partnership will help us progress in the way we maintain our customers' homes.
