A HUNTINGDON couple will be sentenced on June 1 for their part in a 16,000 benefit fraud.
Amanda Pratt of Christie Drive, Huntingdon, pleaded guilty to failing to declare that her husband Martin Pratt lived with her at her former address in Surrey Road, Huntingdon, between 2000 and 2005, while she claimed housing and Council Tax benefit as a single parent from Huntingdonshire District Council.
Martin Pratt, now of Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, pleaded guilty to allowing his wife to fail to notify the council that he lived at her address even though he knew she claimed benefit as a single person.
Huntingdon Crown Court was told that the fraud, which had lasted five years, involved a total of just over 16,000 in state benefits. The case was adjourned for full pre-sentence reports to be produced for both defendants.
