CAMBRIDGESHIRE has one of the highest hourly wage rates in the East of England, a new study shows.
The report by trade union GMB puts the Cambridgeshire average hourly wage rate as £13.29, nearly £3 better off than workers in Southend-on-Sea who earn the lowest in the East of England with an average hourly rate of just £10.48.
The Cambridgeshire rate is one of three areas in the study to surpass the national UK-wide average hourly rate of £12.50, the others being Luton and Hertfordshire.
However, the report revealed that seven areas within the East of England have hourly average wage rates of below the national average, pulling the whole of the region down to an average of £12.22 per hour.
