Customers and coffee flowed freely on Friday when Costa Coffee opened in Huntingdon High Street in the former Pound Shop.
Manager Mark Christie said: "We have had a very good response and a lot of people have said it is about time, the town needed another coffee shop."
The shop, one of 400 branches across Britain, also sells muffins and Italian Garribaldi biscuits and pannini.
