A COMMONWEALTH gold medallist officially opened a new play area at a Huntingdonshire school after a year of fundraising by parents, staff and children.
Gymnast Louis Smith was at Brington Primary School and St Leonard's Pre-School to mark the fundraising achievement, which paid for the new climbing frames.
The equipment, which cost £38,000, was purchased with money raised through numerous fundraisers held throughout the year by the schools' parents association, including an autumn ball, a race night and a fashion show.
They also received a grant from the Cambridgeshire branch of the Local Network Fund and Cambridgeshire County Council early years and childcare service.
