WHAT a churlish editorial about the democratic decision to cancel the white elephant bus lanes along Hartford Road and elsewhere. If The Hunts Post believes that the few people who live along that road have the influence to change the minds of the county council, it is living in cloud-cuckoo land.
Anyway, whatever the reason for abandoning the bus lane, it is the correct decision for all the citizens of Huntingdon. When one takes into account interest charges, depreciation and maintenance charges of the £6million building cost, we are talking about £1million a year in running costs just to save a few minutes of travelling time for one or two buses in peak hours. That is the economics of the madhouse. There are far more important things on which to spend that amount of money.
