CHRISTMAS was spoilt for one disabled Huntingdon youngster who had his new mountain bike stolen on Christmas Day.Aaron Yezek, aged nine, loved his Christmas present but only had time to ride the Raleigh bike once around the block before being called in for his Christmas pudding. The bicycle was left in his front garden, which is shrouded by a six foot hedge, but within 10 minutes the bike had been stolen.Aaron's mum, Sue, immediately got in the car to see if they could find it.The family phoned the police, but were told it was unlikely that the bicycle would be recovered. Huntingdon police have said that crime was low over the festive period and the thief was likely to have been an opportunist. The stolen Raleigh mountain bike was brownish red in colour with Shimano gearsAaron's distraught reaction on being told that his new bicycle was gone was made worse due to him suffering from Soto syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder that has around 100 sufferers in the UK.Symptoms of the illness include excessive growth: the nine-year- old is already 5 feet two inches and taller than his mum, although doctors believe that this could slow down as he enters puberty. He had an old bike but his condition meant he quickly became too big to ride it, prompting the need for the new machine which had a 24 inch frame. Aaron also suffers from learning disabilities and behavioural problems.Mum, Sue, said: "The bike had only been in the house overnight so we had no time to get it security coded."Aaron's dad got a digital camera for Christmas but we didn't have time to get it out of the box to take a photo of the bike before it was stolen. How could somebody do this on Christmas Day?"It was taken from Thongsley, Huntingdon at around 3.15pm, though it was still daylight."We have lived here for 15 years and this is the first trouble we've had! Aaron does not have much to enjoy because of his illness but he loved riding his bike which has now been stolen by someone who never deserves a present again."INFORMATION: Anyone with information about the theft should contact Huntingdon Police Station on 0845 456 456 4 Contact: Sue Yezek, on 01480 394903.
