I AM writing in response to Mrs Lisa Bass (Letters, December 3). I am shocked and appalled to be reading this letter after all that my husband and I have been through.
Mrs Bass says she "felt compelled to write to ask what on earth possessed" my Husband and me to have more children when already in a cramped housing situation
My husband and I gave up a three-bedroom house in Huntingdon because of the fact that we didn't have any children, and we felt that it was better to give up the house as we had had a few miscarriages, and therefore didn't think we would be blessed with having any children. This way, a family living in cramped housing could take on the tenancy.
We were living in a one-bedroom flat when we had our first two children, and the housing association saw fit to move us to a bigger property. We then went on to have one more child.
The simple fact is we were not going to stop having children just because of the current housing crisis, and we do not believe in abortion, as this is murder.
All three of our children were born out of love, and not for financial or housing gain. As for my husband's curvature to the spine and Mrs Bass getting up at 4am to go to work, my husband got this injury through collecting your refuse at 6am in the morning for three and a half years. And, if she would like to know if I had means of transport out of my village at 4am, I would be out working all the hours god sends, and not claiming benefits.
I detest relying on government benefits to get by and, if I had a house nearer a town centre, I would be working.
It is her choice if she and her husband decide not to have another child due to financial strain or whatever. But, if I were to fall pregnant again (not that I plan to in the near future), what on earth possesses Mrs Lisa Bass to make it her business?
