I READ with interest your reply to Gavin Wilkins regarding congestion charging in Cambridge (Letters, August 1). Your opinion on the matter should be kept to yourself. Your paper has no standing as you are an unelected body.

Who has given you the right to tell people how they should travel to anywhere? The last time I looked this is still a free country, although it seems to becoming less so every day.

Furthermore, I agree with Mr Wilkins that congestion charging is just another form of stealth tax. When are people going to realise this?

Your statement that trains are quicker, cheaper and more reliable is laughable. If I wanted to travel anywhere today, the last method I would use is public transport. I already pay far too much to use my car and the last thing the people who read your paper need to hear is that you agree that we should all pay more. How do you get to work each day?
