BANDS have until June 9 to enter this year's Fopp Award for New Music. The award is conferred by record retailer Fopp, the PRS Foundation and Clear Sound and Vision. The section for bands in London and the South East includes Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The prize is a chance to record a three-track EP at a professional studio for free; have the recording edited, mixed, mastered and pressed; work with designers on the artwork for the finished record; have the CD sold at Fopp and to play in London in front of music industry bosses.

Four winners will be chosen by a panel, including Dougie Bruce from Universal Publishing, who works with the Kaiser Chiefs, Stuart Clarke, talent editor at Music Week, Jimmy Smith, A&R at Parlophone, and Colin Roberts, editor of the website, Drowned in Sound.

INFORMATION: Entrants must be over 18, in a band or solo, and write their own material. Application forms are in Fopp stores and from www.fopp.co.uk or www.c-s-v.co.uk or www.prsfoundation.co.uk
