An action group working for the past two years to raise money for a play area in Hemingford Grey has been given a £50,000 Biffa Award.
However, Let's Play at Daintree Green still needs to raise another £12,000 for the project and is planning events throughout the year.
Group spokesman and mother of three Connie Price said: "We have a beautiful green but hardly anything for the children to play on, especially disabled children.
"We have very little compared to St Ives or the other villages. We have a very tall slide, not suitable for little children, and some old swings.
"We have now sourced supplies for safe play equipment on suitable surfaces. We are going to have a lovely playground.
