HUNTINGDON'S nightlife looks set to get strangely busy next month when hundreds of women are expected to walk, jog and run through the streets.
The town will be hosting Sue Ryder Care's first women-only sponsored Huntingdon Midnight Walk - a 10,000m charity challenge.
The event, which is being supported by The Hunts Post, will take place on Saturday, July 11, with women gathering at LA Fitness ready for the run which starts at midnight.
The course will head into the town centre before looping back to finish at LA Fitness where the runners are being promised a party-like atmosphere, breakfast and, of course, a medal.
Hayley Newton, a fundraiser at Sue Ryder Care, said women from across Cambridgeshire and beyond are being encouraged to tackle the course.
"You can walk in memory of a friend or relative, to keep fit or simply as a way to do something different on a Saturday night," she said. "Whatever your reason you will be helping generate vital funds for Sue Ryder Care.
"We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our £13million running costs so this is a great opportunity to have a great evening and raise money at the same time."
Sue Ryder Care supports people, their families and friends affected by conditions such as cancer, stroke, brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, dementia, and motor neurone disease
The charity runs two care centres in Cambridgeshire and another just across the border in Bedfordshire - each specialising in different areas of care.
To ensure the night runs smoothly, Sue Ryder Care is looking for volunteers to help marshal the event.
INFORMATION Entry is £12 and forms will be available from The Hunts Post offices in Huntingdon High Street as well as online at www.suerydercare.org/midnightwalks. For more information, or to volunteer, contact the fundraising office on 01353 663357 or e-mail Hayley.firstname.lastname@example.org.
