A RAMSEY school now has its own police officer on site one day a week to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour among young people.
As part of the national Safer Schools Partnership, PC Matt Thomas will be at Abbey College from noon until 4pm every Thursday.
He will work with the school to provide support to vulnerable children and families, ensure children remain in education and help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour among young people.
PC Thomas will also be providing input into lessons at the school and will be available for appointments with parents.
He will also work with the school to divert young people from social exclusion and criminality and identify those at risk of becoming victims or offenders.
PC Thomas said: "This is an exciting opportunity for me to engage with students and staff and to help them address any problems or concerns they may have.
