CALLOUS thieves have stolen charity boxes from two businesses in St Neots.

In the first theft, offenders broke into Eaton Plaice Fish Shop, in St Neots Road, Eaton Ford, between 10.40pm on Friday, September 26 and 9.20am the following day.

A large stone was used to smash a window and three charity boxes and two sweet machines were stolen. It is not known how much money the boxes contained.

Then, at 3.55am on Monday, September 29 someone smashed a window at the Woolpack Inn, in Church Street, and took a Great Ormond Street charity box containing £15.

Two charity boxes were stolen from this premise on August 3 this year.

Speaking to The Hunts Post, landlady of the Woolpack Inn, Jo Waring, said: "I can't believe this has happened again. To happen once is horrible but to happen twice is just heartbreaking."

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash from the priority crime team said: "I would like to speak to anyone who knows anything about these thefts.

"These crimes have been committed by callous thieves looking for loose change.

"I would urge anyone with information to get in touch."

INFORMATION: Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Swash at Ramsey Police Station on 0845 4564564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
