THE eagerly anticipated opening of St Neots' newest nightspot was postponed on Friday because the building was not ready on time.
Owners of Worx in South Street have said the postponement was due to 'cosmetic work' not being completed for its planned grand opening.
Iain Mack, general manager, said: "We are disappointed as we worked around the clock but we just couldn't get it finished in time.
"We need to do some painting and other cosmetic work then we will definitely be ready for to official open on Friday (July 18)."
He added: "We didn't have that many people turn up at the club as we sent out messages via Facebook to let people know the opening wouldn't be taking place and word spread quickly."
When the club does open, it will have a capacity 500 over three levels, including a VIP room.
Renovation work on the former Job Centre building began just over four weeks ago and is costing around half a million pounds.
The project is being managed by Marcus Simpson, David Taylor and Ciaran MacCana of Ethos Entertainment Ltd which runs the Kings Head in the town.
The ground floor of the building will act as a coffee shop during the day and a chill-out space by night. On the first floor there will be a sound proof, air conditioned dance area with a bar, DJ box, multi coloured lasers and ceiling fans.
The top floor will offer an exclusive VIP area for up to 60 people with a bar and roof terrace.
To make up for the late opening, organisers have said there will be a few surprises in store for clubbers when the club officially opens its doors to the public at 10.30pm on Friday.
INFORMATION: Worx will be open Thursdays from 10.30pm to 2.30am and Fridays and Saturdays from 10.30pm to 3am. To find out more, phone 01480 471300. To see video footage and pictures of the inside of the club, visit, www.huntspost24.co.uk
