THOSE with home-based businesses may be interested to note that there are contingency arrangements that could be made ("BT battles to restore lines after metal raid", February 27).
Most of the large mobile telephone operators are now offering broadband GSM services, which means that you can plug a "dongle" into your PC or laptop and then access the internet via the mobile phone network. The service costs around £30 per month.
By using the mobile network you are not reliant on BT lines being in place, so if BT's lines are not available you can still access the internet.
