A HUNTINGDON girl and her band - Blush - have won a place on the new series of The Xfactor - even after Sharon Osbourne, told one of them: "You missy, you can't sing at all."

Despite that setback - and making Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell blush after kissing him, the all girl band went on to beat 150,000 applicants to get a place on the show.

The band of four singers, who had been together for six months, first auditioned for the television show at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in London in June.

They waited an entire weekend to get their chance, but eventually they found themselves in front of the four judges, Sharon, wife of Black Sabbath star Ozzy Osbourne, pop producer Cowell, singer Danni Minogue, sister of Kylie and choreographer Brian Friedman who had temporarily replaced pop producer Louis Walsh.

One of the band's founder members, Susan Saunders, 23, from Huntingdon, told The Hunts Post: "It is quite brutal. They do nothing to put you at ease and you are there for 15 or 20 minutes - much longer than you see on the telly."

She added: "We sang Two Become One by the Spice Girls but the girl who started the song, began in the wrong key and it threw the whole thing off.

"The judges realised that some of it was down to nerves, but Sharon told the girl: 'You missy, you can't sing at all'".

And when Simon Cowell started attacking the girl (who Susan has decided not to name), she left the group by mutual agreement and was later replaced.

With the new line up, band then auditioned again in Birmingham in July, this time with Louis Walsh back on the team. That time, they waited a day to get their chance to sing Stronger by the Sugababes as their audition for the show.

Susan said: "We got heard again and Sharon said: 'Great, you have won my respect because you have taken on board my comments."

They were so pleased to get through, they made Simon Cowell blush by kissing him - and Susan went one step further by licking his face. She told The Hunts Post that afterwards he said "Oh, that was quite nice!"

The current line up of Blush consists of Susan and her sister Nicole, 24, who are both trained dancers, Lucy Nelson, 23, who like Nicole dances on the podium at the Liquid night club in Peterborough - and new member, Becca Evans, 21.

Nicole is studying dance full time. The other girls have day jobs. Susan is an administrator at the insurance broker, the BGL Group in Peterborough, Lucy works for the publishing group Emap in Orton and Becca, from Peterborough works at the insurance company More Than.

Susan and Becca met at Peterborough Regional College where they studied performing arts.

However, they cannot say how successful they were on the Xfactor because they have been sworn to secrecy but Susan says: "All we can reveal is that Blush did very well.

"Now we want to go on and get more gigs.
