JUDGES from Anglia in Bloom visited Sawtry to see the village's contribution to the competition.
They were shown the Sawtry in Bloom Front Garden and Container competitors, the sustainable planting in many front gardens, the fire station, the allotments and Sawtry Day Nursery's extended garden with its water butt, compost bins and planned willow structure.
They also visited Sawtry Infant School's conservation area which has been neglected for many years. It is to be transformed with seats, bulb planting, dens and the old pond filled in with soil and colourful bog plants. Headteacher Fiona Wheatley said all the teachers were keen to use the area for a wide range of The results of this year's Anglia in Bloom competition will be announced in September.
