WHY, when an accident happens involving a motorbike and car, is there usually a call only for bikers to undergo extra training?

As a biker (and car driver) I appreciate that one can never have too much training and going on courses such as BikeSafe and others is an excellent idea. One can never be too careful.

Unfortunately, the majority of collisions involving cars and motorbikes are the fault of the car driver, so I would like to urge car drivers to look around and be more aware of their surroundings. "Sorry mate. I didn't see you" is not good enough.

Car drivers should not drive around as if in a little cocoon completely oblivious to others on the road (something I see all too often). It is everyone's responsibility, bikers and car drivers, to make the roads safer and not just by bikers having extra training.
