The clocks were turned back to a different era at Eastfield Infant and Nursery School as pupils experienced a day in a Victorian school. Children and staff dressed in Victorian costumes and were given Victorian names while their classrooms were given a makeover with desks arranged into rows. The Victorian timetable included reading by rote, writing in copperplate script, arithmetic and drill, as well as washing and needlework for girls and boot polishing and woodwork for boys. The day was organised to conclude the children's study of the Victorians. And although it was enjoyed by all, the children were happy to return to their usual lessons and modern ways.
