VILLAGERS in Little Paxton are being asked to assess the fire risk in their homes.
The parish council has delivered questionnaires for residents to complete so the fire service can judge whether a professional firefighter needs to take a closer look.
This month, fire risk assessment forms will be delivered to the High Street, Lakefield Avenue, Pipistrelle Close, Kingfisher Close, Nursery Gardens, School Lane, Davis Close, Wantage Gardens, Lakeside Close, Hayling Avenue, Boardman Close and Beeson Close.
The questionnaires are delivered by parish councillors and collected by them two weeks later.
Parish Clerk Jenny Gellatly said: "Last quarter the parish council received 172 returned questionnaires - a return rate of 49.8 per cent.
"The fire service conducted 75 risk assessments and installed over 150 free smoke detectors. It was as fantastic result.
