AN armed robbery has struck at a Huntingdon cinema demanding money and threatening staff and customers at gunpoint.

The robber entered the Cineworld cinema at Towerfields Retail Park in Sapley at 9.50pm on Friday (January 2).

He was brandishing a revolver and approached the main concessions counter of the cinema.

The armed robber then threatened a male and female member of staff and demanded money. When the two employees explained they could not get in to the tills the robber turned and pointed the gun at a member of the public.

The cinema manager than approached the robber and the offender ran out of the building towards the Sapley area.

The robber is described as white, about 6ft tall, slim and was wearing a dark green ski style jacket, dark blue jeans, white trainers and black gloves.

Detective Sergeant Gaye Mallows said: "There were a number of people in the cinema and the nearby area at the time of this incident and I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident who thought they may have seen the offender.

"This was a frightening experience for those involved and it is vital that we trace this man.

"It is possible that the offender may have disposed of some of his clothing or other items as he left the area and I would appeal to anyone who thinks they may have seen these to contact police.

"At this time we are not ruling out the possibility that this incident may be connected to armed robberies in Huntingdon and Godmanchester.

"A number of officers are investigating these crimes and we are working to trace those responsible."
